Nashville, TN— The newest member of the Lennox Hearth Products Burn Smart™ family — the Dave Lennox Signature™ Collection Solana™ fireplace — is a wood-burning model that utilizes innovative Fresh Fire™ technology to significantly reduce particulate pollution compared to standard open hearth, wood-burning fireplaces. The Solana fireplace qualifies under the new, voluntary EPA Wood-burning Fireplace Emissions Program, providing emission levels that are considerably lower than those required in the initial stages of the program. The EPA Wood-burning Fireplace Emissions Program was created to help builders and consumers identify qualified, clean-burning products available in the marketplace, such as the newly introduced Solana, so they can make an environmentally sound purchasing decision.
The Fresh Fire system reduces particulate emissions to a rate of 3.87 gr/kg, which significantly improves air quality and decreases environmental impact — especially when combined with the fireplace’s retractable doors and a nearly sealed combustion chamber.
The Solana fireplace also features a large firebox and an outside combustion air connection that is manually controlled with a damper to increase heating efficiency and allow partial control over the flame. Its ceramic-glass door construction allows it to withstand higher temperatures while radiating heat when the doors are closed. An optional blower boosts heat output.
LHP’s Burn Smart products include cost-effective and clean-burning fireplaces, stoves and inserts that meet guidelines established by at least one third-party accrediting entity, such as the EPA. Lennox Hearth Products is an EPA Wood-burning Fireplace Partner and worked with industry concerns to develop the test methods employed in this new voluntary program.
Robert Dischner, director of marketing, said the launch of the Solana fireplace solidifies the Lennox leadership position in the move toward efficient, eco-conscious burning. “As this new program is implemented, Lennox Hearth Products will be at the front of the line to introduce qualified products. The Solana fireplace, with its exclusive retractable doors and almost-sealed combustion, is a perfect fit in the newly created market of front-open, cleaner-burning fireplaces,” said Dischner.
